SUMMARY

Performs advanced technical writing and production tasks associated with technical manuals. Resolves complex problems associated with technical authoring support and analysis, which require ingenuity and innovation. Provides guidance, training, data, and technical support to team members in establishing operational, maintenance, and inspection procedures and techniques.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)

  • Author technical manuals via an electronic authoring system
  • Resolve a wide range of complex technical problems, provide functional guidance to less experienced staff
  • Draw upon advanced technical authoring skills to resolve complex technical issues associated with technical authoring support and analysis
  • Performs research assignments with or without customer interaction. Interaction with customer representatives through oral or written communication
  • With minimal guidance from management, may evaluate jobs to determine the degree of difficulty, be able to review job packages for completeness and accuracy of the source data, and be able to quote time to accomplish the work

  • Able to perform customer-level liaison: setting and accomplishing goals with customer, maintaining professional relationship with customer
  • Must have demonstrated managerial and supervisory skills with ability to guide and direct staff and work in a team environment
  • Able to manage schedules for projects undertaken, and allocate resources
  • Able to work with Senior Management and employees to identify areas of risk and address problems in a timely fashion
  • Able to assist Senior Management in the development and administration of the departmental budget and to ensure fiscally responsible use of funds
  • Able to write requirements, specifications, and technical analysis documents as required
  • Able to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Able to work independently as well as in a distributed team environment
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical drawings and support documentation
  • Understanding of various publication processes such as editing, illustration, writing, production phases
  • Professional familiarity with ATA-100 and ATA iSpec2200 specifications
  • Knowledge of aviation industry regulatory bodies (for example, FAA) general requirements
  • Must be able to actively pursue learning position and mastering job skills and requirements
  • Able to use general office equipment

QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, English, Finance, or Communications, as applicable.  MBA or continuing education certification a plus
  • Minimum five years experience including product development, marketing, sales, production, finance, accounting, human resources, payroll, and general business operations, as applicable
  • XML/SGML experience a plus
  • Typing skills of 60 wpm
  • An energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards and a consistently professional image
  • Thorough understanding of computerized administrative and financial data systems, including electronic spreadsheet, database, and presentation software is essential, for example, the MS Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills as well as a high degree of creativity, ingenuity and business judgment are required.  The individual should be a good listener and capable of providing customers an acceptable forum to communicate their needs and provide solutions to reported issues or problems.
  • Strong analytical skills and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects
  • Professional presentation skills are required to present products and services to customers
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required
